Explore this showcase to find examples of the Exhibition page type and Timeline content item in Quartex. Both of these dynamic features allow you to highlight key sources across your collections through topic-based or chronological organisation.
Exhibitions
Exhibition pages can be used to showcase assets, items and audio and video files from your collections with supporting, descriptive text. Read through this page to find out more about different use cases for this page type and to browse examples produced by other Quartex users.
Case Studies
AI
Visit the Australian Catholic University’s Brought to life exhibition to see how AI and creative approaches to sources can be showcased in exhibitions. As in this example, external sources can be utilised in exhibitions from the media library. This innovative approach to newspaper images, animates photographs from the pages of Australian Catholic University’s collections using AI and pairs with them with AI generated stories. See Ana's announcement post for more detail on how Australian Catholic University created this exhibition. Reply to the post to continue the conversation with any ideas or questions on using AI with primary sources.
Audio
Visit Baylor University’s The Storm Is Passing Over exhibit to see how audio assets can be highlighted in exhibitions. This example includes audio sources as the main exhibition items and contextualisation in the form of additional visuals and written interpretation. This exhibition is also a great example of how this feature can be used to encourage comparison between sources, as it brings together different version of Charles Tindlay’s “The Storm is Passing Over” for analysis.
Dual-Language
Visit the Arhoolie Foundation's Historias de la Alondra exhibition in Spanish or English. See how user pathways can be created to support speakers of different languages within one Quartex site. You can ensure identical page styles, formatting and imagery when creating options in multiple languages using our duplicate page feature. Historias de la Alondra, also demonstrates the ability to embed an audio player into your exhibition text content. See Clark Noone's General Forum post announcing the exhibition and add to the thread to find out more about Arhoolie's process.

Student Content
Visit the University of Liverpool’s University Places and Spaces exhibitions to see how Quartex can be used to feature student work. By using multiple exhibitions Liverpool’s student partner has created additional theming and navigation for their exhibition work, by placing individual exhibition pages in dialogue with one another to create an overall feature, which could also be added to over time. With our Exhibition Editor role, introducing new voices to interpret collections and integrating Quartex into classroom and research tasks has never been easier.

Zoom Backgrounds
Exhibitions can also be used to drive public engagement with historical content by highlighting everyday uses for imagery in collections. Visit the Sonoma County Public Library’s Custom Zoom Backgrounds exhibition, created during the COVID-19 pandemic, to see how exhibitions can be used to present multiple versions of assets and encourage downloads.
